It’s a good thing I don’t have $1,200 to waste, err, spare. Not that I would on something with an automatic. Or old and German. Or with a cheesy aftermarket stereo...

Not even for a dollar

Not even for a scooby snack?

Not even if it was running and the windshield wasn’t broken.

I believe these have a cvt that is notorious for blowing up. Not even if it was gifted to me would I take that car. It would be impossible to find a working trans as no one rebuilds cvts.

Well, mine is also a 2006 that i bought 1500€ but mine is a Avant that has a gray leather interior and a manual and it was running but in rougher shape and has around 200k miles .
Hard to say if it’s a crack pipe or not, depends on the issue the engine has but if the leather interior is in decent shape, you can probably sell it for almost the price you paid for the car .

Eww. I forgot that Audi had CVTs at one time. Even more reason to say NO!

Manual Avant? That would be worth saving, especially in the US. This thing? Probably not.

It seems that there is a Quattro badge and if i recall correctly, the multitronic (CVT) is not existing with Quattros.

The CVT is only for the FWD version.

Nope

Exactly. Old+Audi+automatic=no. I have a hard time seeing why I'd want it even if it is running. (if I were in Europe maybe it'd be different. In the Midwest if I only have $1500 I either want something with more fun appeal or something where parts and mechanics knowledge are cheaper and more plentiful..

Well, that’s, uh, better?
Snow around here isn’t too bad, yet I see way too many cars sold with AWD - Cadillac, BMW, etc. I grew up in dry and sunny Southern California and moved to the midwest and had to deal with some of the worst winters on record and it really wasn’t that bad. Certainly not bad enough to warrant carrying around all that extra weight and complexity all year long.

Didn’t realize that it was a quattro. I still wouldn’t buy it.
